SRINAGAR, Nov 2: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah today paid glowing tributes to noted Shia leader and scholar, Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi on his 16th Martyrdom Anniversary.
A commemorative meeting was held at party headquarters at Nawa-e-Subha Complex where party leaders and functionaries paid tribute to the late leader and prayed for eternal peace to his soul.
“Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi was a man of the masses and had great knowledge of Islam and history. He worked tirelessly for the downtrodden and the destitute and was their voice,” NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said in his message on the occasion.
NC Working President Omar Abdullah also paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi and recollected the late leader’s numerous contributions to the society and community. He laid down his life for the principles of truth, courage and peace. He lived his life for the people and espoused the cause of their amelioration and uplift, Omar said.
NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, NC Provincial President Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani, NC Provincial President Jammu Devender Singh Rana, NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu, Political Secretary to Working President Tanvir Sadiq, Party Legislators and Leaders also paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi.
