KATHUA, Feb 26: The farmers held a protest demonstration at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, near Barnoti demanding releasing of water from canals to overcome draught like situation in their area, today.
The protester blocked the National highway for one hour. The protest was led by Bahu Singh, local Congress leader demanding for immediate opening of Ravi and Kathua canals which are closed.
On getting information, Avtar Singh, Teshildar reached the protesting spot and assured the protesters that their demand should be put forth to concerned officials for early consideration of demand.
After assurance, the protesters disposed of peacefully. Similar protest releasing of water from canals were held outside DC office, Kathua which was led by Narash Sharma.
