SRINAGAR: Fans, coolers and air-conditioners have finally been put on in the Kashmir valley, where mercury has witnessed a jump while there is no possibility of immediate relief though isolated rain or thundershowers could occur.
However, the weather at tourist spots of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Yusmarg and other hilly areas remained pleasant and people still have to wear warm cloths, particularly in the morning and evening.
There is a possibility of isolated rain in Srinagar,Badgam, Baramulla and Kupwara while weather will remain dry elsewhere in the valley today, a Met department spokesman said this afternoon.
However, weather will remain in dry the next six days and mercury will remain above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, he said. Fans, coolers and air conditioners have been put on in houses and offices in the valley as the mercury witnessed a sudden jump.
For the past few days the minimum and maximum temperatures were above normal. Bright sunshine greeted people in the valley after above normal minimum temperature, forcing them to put on fans and other gadgets. In mosques coolers and fans have also been put on because of the above normal temperature.
He said the minimum temperature in Srinagar was 15.9 degree, which was three degree above normal. However, the maximum temperature of today will be known in the evening, spokesman said.
He said the sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 30 degree and 15 degree respectively, again above normal in the city. (AGENCIES)
