JAMMU, June 14: The family members and relatives of militant attack victim held protest and sought compensation.
The family members and relatives along with the body of the deceased woman Mamta Thapa, wife of Rajinder Thapa, a resident of Rani Bagh, Chatha, who was killed in militant attack yesterday at Kud, assembled at Nai Basti and blocked the vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
They raised slogans against the Government for not announcing ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased woman.
After getting information, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Sachin Gupta along with SHO Inspector Bishnesh Kumar rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters.
Later, SDM South Sonu Pargal reached the spot and assured the protesters that compensation will be paid according to the law.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
