SRINAGAR, Dec 8: An elderly man from Srinagar has been missing in New Delhi for six days, prompting his family to appeal for urgent intervention from authorities to help trace him.
The missing man, Ghulam Qadir Burki, 69, is a resident of Khanyar, Srinagar.
According to his family, Burki disappeared on December 2 at around 5 pm from Bhogal Market near Kashmiri Park, while he, along with his family members, were out for shopping.
Relatives said Burki asked his family to walk ahead, assuring them he would follow shortly.
However, as per them, he never returned, and his mobile phone has remained switched off.
Naveed Ashraf, a relative, said Burki has been visiting Delhi every winter for decades, and his disappearance is deeply alarming. “He has been going to Delhi for 55 years-it’s a routine for him,” Ashraf said.
“On December 2, he went to withdraw cash from a bank in Bhogal. He asked his wife to walk ahead, saying he would catch up. But he didn’t return even by 11 pm,” he said.
He said that his friends were contacted later, but no one had any information.
The family members urged the authorities to take up the matter with the concerned departments and expedite efforts to trace him.
A missing report has also been filed at Nizamuddin Police Station, but searches in nearby areas have not yielded any leads so far, relatives said.
