Srinagar, Feb 18 : Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore while announcing the quantum of sentence to fake faith healer Aijaz Sheikh, sentenced him 14 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 1 lakh as fine for the sexual abuse of children in north Kashmir.
The accused-Sheikh was yesterday convicted by the CJM court under section 377 of RPC.
The court also directed him to pay Rs 45,000 as compensation to each of the two victims in the current case, along with a fine of Rs 5,000 for each victim.
Court has left it open for the other survivors, who have been alleged abused by the accused-Sheikh to file separate FIRs against him.
The case against Sheikh began with an FIR filed on March 2, 2016, and charges were brought against him in October 2017.
During the conviction, the Chief Judicial Magistrate stated that the other survivors, who were registered only as witnesses, are free to file separate FIRs against Sheikh for his crimes.
