Fake court order used to release vehicle

JAMMU, Dec 20: One person has been booked at Janipur Police Station here for allegedly releasing a vehicle from the custody of police using a fake court order, police sources said.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate into the matter.
As per sources, Aftab Ahmad of Nagrota, who has been booked in case FIR number 142/2024 under the relevant sections of the law, recently filed a petition in court seeking the release of his tipper truck, which was seized by Police Post Chinore.

On this, the court asked for a report regarding the vehicle from Police Post Chinore, they said.
However, after no one came forward to follow up on the petition, the court suspected that something was wrong, sources further said.
Upon further investigation by the court, it was discovered that the vehicle had already been released by the owner using a fake order, bearing the court’s stamp and mentioning a fine, they said.
After the court confirmed that the order was forged, they directed for registration of a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the law.
Accordingly, the accused was booked under the relevant sections of the law and further investigation taken up.
Meanwhile, authorities have constituted a Special Investigation team led by SHO Nagrota to look into the matter.
