JAMMU, Aug 8: Police have arrested two individuals involved in a fraud case where four split AC units worth nearly Rs 2 lakh were deceitfully taken from a seller.
The case came to light after Karamjeet Singh, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, reported that he received a call on August 5 from an unknown number regarding the purchase of four split air conditioners. Believing the caller, Singh sent the units through an auto-rickshaw to the provided location. Upon arrival, the accused individuals transferred the ACs into their own vehicle and fled the spot.
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, Police Station Janipur registered FIR Number 124/2025 under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. A dedicated police team, utilizing both technical surveillance and human intelligence, managed to trace and arrest the accused – Ajay Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of New Plot and Ankush Kumar, son of Amit Lal, resident of Rehari Colony.
All four stolen AC units were successfully recovered along with the auto-rickshaw and a scooty used during the commission of the crime. Police confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
