KATHUA, Mar 11: Two nomadic community children, allegedly facing parental strain, went missing from Kathua district, prompting the police to launch a probe.
A police officer said on February 27, 15-year-old Deen alias Deenu son of Swaru of Hardo Muthi, Rajbagh, left his house to stay at the residence of his sister at Panwarwan village in Marheen area, some 2 kilometres away.
The next day, he took along the 12-year-old son of his sister, identified as Rehmat Ali, son of Makhan Din to attend a marriage function in their village, he said.
“Thereafter, the two children went for grazing their cattle. Around 12 pm that day and went missing,” he said.

After searching their children in Punjab, Jammu, Udhampur and other areas of Kathua district for several days, the concerned family members, including Swaru and Makhan Din, reported the matter to the Rajbagh Police Station.
On their complaint, a case FIR number 51/2025 under section 137(2) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation taken up, the police official said.
Meanwhile, DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar Sharma today visited Rajbagh and Marheen, meeting the families of the missing boys.
He assured them that all possible efforts were being made to trace the children.
Accompanied by DySP Border Dheeraj Katoch and SHO Rajbagh Ajay Chib, the DIG directed officials to coordinate with relatives of the boys in Punjab, Jammu, and Udhampur.
He also instructed teams to be formed and photos of the missing boys to be widely circulated for leads.
The search operation is ongoing, and police have urged the public to report any information that could help locate the boys.
