JAMMU, May 7: Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti (Delhi), has urged the J&K UT Government to issue Domicile certificates in favour of bonafide Displaced Persons (DPs) of POJK after their registration here with the Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation.
In a letter forwarded to the Secretary to J&K UT Govt, Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, Madan Mohan Gupta, general secretary of the Samiti has stressed upon the J&K UT Government to initiate registration process in favour of bonafide Displaced Persons (DPs) from Mirpur, Muzaffrabad, Poonch (POJK) etc, for the purpose of issuance of Domicile certificate, in reference to the Govt order No. 52-JK (DMRRR) of 2020 dated 16-05-2020.
He pointed out that J&K UT Govt had issued order on May 16, 2020, giving opportunity to the DPs settled outside J&K to get themselves registered with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K for the issuance of Domicile within a period of one year along with some required documents. Gupta demanded that Govt should extend the date of registration as many people could not apply due to Covid restrictions, on-line registration problem and some other reasons.
Gupta said the link for online registration jkmigrantrelief.nic.in was released on July 26, 2020, that is 70 days after the issuance of Govt order. Due to Covid pandemic, the concerned offices remained closed for long time. In the absence of nationwide publicity, DPs settled in states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, UP, Karnataka, Rajasthan etc could not know about this opportunity. Due to elections also the normal work of registration was disrupted. Therefore, the J&K UT Administration must grant atleast six months one time extension in date of registration in favour of DPs, for securing Domicile certificate, Gupta demanded.
