POONCH, June 23: The police today seized some expiry date medicines from Govt Health Centre at village Salwah in Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch.
Sources said that some patients of the village came to know that expiry date medicines were provided to them by the hospital staff. They took up the matter with the village Sarpanch, who contacted SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim and revealed the matter.
The SDPO sent police party to the Health Centre at Salwah from Police Post, Ari. The police seized the medicines and started investigation. The hospital staff allegedly slipped away when the police party arrived there. The police said that Pharmacist Mudassar Hussain and two FMPHWs -Tasleem Akhtar and Zareen Akhtar had abandoned the Health Centre during the raid and only a Safaiwalla was found there.
SDPO, Mendhar Mr Shahid when contacted said that preliminary inquiry has been started and medicines have been seized. He said some medicines were of expiry date. He said action under law would be taken against the hospital staff and an FIR is being registered in this connection. BMO Mendhar, Dr Zulfkar Choudhary expressed ignorance over the matter and said he would look into the matter.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr B S Pathania when contacted said that it is very serious issue as human life is more precious. The Director said that he would definitely hold inquiry into the matter and take strict action against the concerned staff, if found guilty for this serious lapse.
