Expert committee reviews patient care facilities in GMC

JAMMU, Jan 29: In pursuance to the High Court’s directions in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Citizen Forum Jammu, a committee of experts visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to review patient care facilities therein.
The Committee headed by Dr Yogesh Chawla (retired Director PGIMER Chandigarh) and comprising Dr Ravi Gupta (MS, GMC & Hospital, Chandigarh), Dr H L Goswami (retired Principal GMC Jammu), Dr Rattan Kudyar (ex- Director/Principal ASCOMS) and Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma (Principal GMC & AHs Jammu) examined the infrastructure, equipment and human resource available in the GMC and shall be further submitting a report to the Court.
The experts from the Committee also interacted with the HoD’s of various departments and listened to their inputs for improving the infrastructure and service delivery so that public can get better medical facilities. Earlier, the team visited Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) for taking stock of the infrastructure, manpower and other allied facilities.
Dr Renu Sharma, Director Health Services Jammu coordinated the whole visit of the Committee. Prominent among those accompanying the expert committee were Administrator GMC & AHs Jammu, MS GMC Jammu, MS SSH Jammu, MS SMGS Hospital, MS Psychiatric Hospital Jammu and MS Chest Disease Hospital.
