JAMMU, Mar 17: Expressing serious concern over disruption and damages caused by the snowfall across the Valley, CPI(M) today asked the Government to expedite restoration of essential services immediately.
“We express serious concern over disruption and damages caused by the snowfall across the Valley especially in South Kashmir. The Government should expedite restoration of essential services immediately and assess the damages caused to farmers and orchardists in districts like Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag and Shopian”, CPI(M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami told reporters here.
Tarigami stressed that the administration should restore power supplies in the areas which remained cut off due to snow and ensure adequate supplies of ration, fuel and other edible commodities in such areas without any delay.
“The Government must address the problem of frequent power breakdowns in Kashmir Valley. Efforts should made to restore power supply as soon as possible in areas which are still reeling under darkness,” the Kulgam MLA said.
He said despite passing of several days, the situation continues to be grim in many rural areas.
“The ongoing board and university examinations demand improvement in the power scenario. The electricity has to be restored on war footing to save the future of the student community,” Tarigami said.
With the rise in water discharge of rivers, the Government must revise the power curtailment schedule, he added.
