Expand outreach of medicare to remote areas: Rana

DANSAL Oct 28: Underscoring the need for expanding outreach of schemes designed to improve health in the rural areas, MLA Nagrota today sought prominent display of citizen charter of the facilities available in the health institution for general awareness.
“Patient care has to be a top priority while steps are needed to be taken to upgrade the infrastructural and diagnostic facilities at the hospital”, Mr Rana said while chairing meeting of the Governing Body of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of the Primary Health Centre Dansal.
Mr Rana announced 50 KVA generator for the PHC out of his Constituency Development Fund and also finalised the site for Sulab Sawchaliya for convenience of the public.
The meeting discussed various issues primarily with regard to upkeep and renovation of the PHC and Mr Rana exhorted the management to take due care of health and hygiene. He assured the management that he will do whatever is possible to seek necessary wherewithal for the hospital by taking up these at t he appropriate level.
Mr Rana expressed concern over non-availability of gynaecologist in the PHC and urged the Government to post a suitable doctor forthwith keeping in view the requirement. He also reviewed the supply position of medicines and functioning of various disciplines of the PHC.
The MLA also impressed upon the Samiti to explore possibilities of holding camps in various disciplines by coordinating with various non-governmental and social organisations for overall benefit of the people. He said that such camps are imperative to inspire people for going general check-ups and to maintain their health status.
While calling upon the medics and para-medics to work with devotion, Mr Rana said effective measures are needed to be taken for checking infant mortality and ensuring mother-child health care. In this context, he emphasized the crucial role of Anganwari Workers, saying their involvement in reaching out to the targeted segments of society is imperative. He also stressed the need for ASHA performance tracking for effective mother-child care
Mr Rana also reviewed the working of sub-centres affiliated to the Primary Health Centre and called upon the staff to be punctual. He said the roaster with regard to 24X7 shifts in the hospital should be strictly adhered to. He also asked the hospital management to eschew the tendency of referring patients to Jammu for ailments can be managed at the local level also.
