JAMMU, Apr 27: A two day exhibition on coins collection organized by the Dogra Art Museum (DAM) concluded here today.
The initiative aimed to highlight the rich history of currency and coinage in the region and spark public interest in the field of numismatics.
Marking the occasion, the museum opened its doors to visitors with free entry on April 26 and 27, drawing large crowds including students, historians and general visitors from across Jammu.
The event featured a special exhibition of rare and antique coins, curated by Mukul Magotra, Curator of the DAM.
The display showcased an impressive collection of historical coins from different eras, offering insight into the region’s economic and artistic legacy.
Speaking on the occasion, K K Sidha, Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, said, “We are excited to host this exhibition and welcome students and visitors from across Jammu to explore the world of numismatics. Our goal is to promote cultural awareness and appreciation and we believe that this exhibition will be a valuable learning experience for all.”
The department also organized a special numismatic exhibition at the S P S Museum in Srinagar, ensuring wider access and participation.
