JAMMU, Aug 30: Member of J&K Excise & State Taxes Employees Welfare Society, Vijay Sharma has demanded exemption of J&K pensioners from payment of Income Tax as pensions of MPs and MLAs are without any tax in the country.
In a handout, Sharma said that in view of rising cost of living and medical expenses of senior citizens, PM Modi should consider the demand of J&K pensioners. “The prevailing pandemic which has mostly affected senior citizens and pensioners to a large extent and in view of high inflationary cost of living and medical expenses the survival of pensioners has become very difficult,” he claimed adding that Bharatiya Pensioners Manch too has appealed to the PM for redressal of long pending demands of pensioners.
