Executive meeting of Kashi Vidvat Parishad held

JAMMU, May 26: An executive meeting of J&K Shri Kashi Vidvat Parishad, Jammu was held at Government Women’s College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Padma Shri Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri and Principal of the host College, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.
A comprehensive roadmap was devised in the meeting to redefine Sanskrit education in alignment with modern needs and several new initiatives were announced which included internship programs, training workshops and joint certification courses.
Members of the Parishad present in the meeting were Prof. Ram Bahadur Shukla, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, University of Jammu; Prof. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Former Principal, Higher Education Department, Jammu; Dr. Vijender Kumar, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Government Women’s College, Gandhi Nagar; Dr. Mamta, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Government Women’s College, Parade; Dr. Sandhya, Head, Sanskrit Dept., Akhnoor College; Dr. Shubh Kumar, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Government College, Basohli; Dr. Om Prakash, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Government Women’s College, Udhampur; Dr. Praveen Shastri, treasurer and Shakti Dutt Sharma, vice president, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Jammu.
Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri, in his address, stated that Sanskrit is the very foundation of India’s cultural consciousness.
Principal Dr. Geetanjali Andotra, in her concluding remarks said, “We shall begin regular workshops in Yoga, Vastu and culture at College level for Sanskrit learners.”
