JAMMU, May 6: Taking an initiative to help the general mass during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) of UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have shown their keen interest in stitching the masks in the lockdown period through their ex-trainees.
The ex-trainees trained at 22 RSETIs of UT of J&K and Ladakh have stitched a total of 73742 masks during the whole lockdown period. Some of the stitched masks have been distributed by the ex-trainees directly to the general public of the respective districts and some of the masks have been submitted to district administrations of the respective districts which they have further distributed them to the poor people. Total figure of masks distributed is 69095.
RSETI model has been set up by Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) which is headed by A K Razdan, State Director in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh. Each RSETI provides free skill trainings like cutting & tailoring, Beauty Parlor, computer basics, electrical goods repair, AC fridge repairing, etc. to the unemployed youth as per the interest of candidate with free boarding and lodging facilities.
