Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association discusses issues

JAMMU, Oct 25: The monthly meeting of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association Akhnoor was held here today under the chairmanship of Navy veteran, Lakhbir Singh.
Speakers in the meeting expressed concern over the traffic jams on Akhnoor road during the recent festivals and urged the district administration to construct a bypass road from Punnu Chowk to Gurah Patan.
They said that they will also submit a memorandum in this regard to the district authorities soon.
Issues related to the ex-servicemen like delays in pension revision, ECHS medical reimbursement, referral procedure and allotment of welfare housing were also discussed in the meeting.
The Association members urged the concerned departments to expedite the settlement of these issues and recommend the establishment of a dedicated Veterans Facilitation Cell for quicker redressal.
Demands of Sainik Bhawan, admission priority for the children of army personnel in Army Public Schools and appointment of medical specialists in ECHS were also raised.
Association president, Captain Santosh Kumar also spoke on the occasion. Those who were present in the meeting were general secretary Kaka Ram, Captain Ghar Singh, Raghbir Singh, Bharat Bhushan and others.
