POONCH, Nov 6:  An ex-servicemen rally and medical outreach campaign was organised under  Romeo  Force at Surankote  in district Poonch today.
The rally provided a forum for redressal of grievances of veterans and  `Veer Naris’ and widows and help them in living their life with dignity and pride.
The event was inaugurated by Maj Gen AK Sanyal, General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force in the presence of a large number of Army officers, civilian officials and large number of veterans and  `Veer Naris’  from Poonch and Rajouri districts.  The Army and Civil Administration joined hands in a remarkable display of co-operation to address various issues of veterans related to pension, land and health services.
Representatives from various Army departments like Controller of Defence Account (Pension) Allahabad, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Director General of Resettlement, Zila Sainik Welfare Board, JAK LI, JAK RIF, DOGRA Records and Civil departments ie, Revenue, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, District Industries Centre and Khadi Village and Industries Board attended the rally.
The veterans and `Veer Naris’ were greeted by the tunes of the bagpipers and songs by school children.  This was followed by dance and cultural programme put up by Army personnel.  Thereafter, the problems of the veterans and `Veer Naris’  were addressed both by the representative of Army departments and civil departments who did their best to resolve the issues brought out.
Special counters for `Suvigya and Jeevan Praman’ schemes were also established in the rally and around 600 veterans were benefited from it through online registration during the event.
A  medical outreach campaign was organised as part of the rally and facilities such as dental, medical examination by Medical Officers and distribution of medicines were also catered for the veterans and their families.
Maj Gen Sanyal, GOC (CIF) felicitated the `Veer Naris’ and some  veterans to commemorate the great sacrifice made by martyrs in the service of the Nation.  The GOC also thanked the civil administration for their participation in the successful conduct of the rally.
