RAJOURI, Apr 24: An ex-serviceman was electrocuted at his residence at a village in Manjakote tehsil of district Rajouri today.
A police spokesman while giving details said that the incident took place during afternoon when 41-year-old, Mohd Tariq (Fauji), son of Mohammed Latief, resident of village Patrara in Manjakote, was busy in some electric work at home. He sustained severe electric shocks and turned unconscious. The family members and villagers rushed him to Manjakote hospital where doctor declared him as dead.
Later, on the advice of some locals, the family buried half of his body in the earth, keeping face and neck above, believing that by earthing the current passed through the body, Fauji might be recovered, but it was all in vain. The police registered a case in this connection. It is said that Tariq was serving in Army in Kashmir and had retired recently.
