Ex-Policemen League raises key welfare issues during monthly meet

JAMMU, Nov 1: The Ex-Policemen League, District Jammu, held its monthly meeting today under the chairmanship of Karanjit Singh, President of the Retirees Police League District Jammu.
The gathering also doubled as a Diwali and Eid get-together, bringing together a large number of retired police officers.
During the meeting, the members discussed various issues concerning the welfare of retired police personnel.
They highlighted discrepancies in pay and pension among pensioners of equal rank, lack of free medicine facilities for serving and retired police personnel in Government and police hospitals, and the demand for a special recruitment quota for the children of ex-policemen.
The members also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, the Finance Commissioner, and the Director General of Police to extend medical and welfare schemes introduced after August 2019 to those who retired earlier, as many of them suffer from chronic illnesses and require additional healthcare support.
They further urged that all welfare schemes implemented in other Union Territories be extended to Jammu and Kashmir as well.
Prominent retired officers including Ch Chirag Din, Ranjit Singh, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Ch Gulzar, S R Datta, Rakesh Parihar, J S Chib, Shamsher Singh Parihar, Tariq Ganai, Daljit Singh, Taj Mohammad, Dhian Singh, VR Bali, Ramesh Sharma, and Ashok Kumar attended the meeting.
The event concluded with a tea session, where participants expressed gratitude to the District Police Headquarters Jammu for providing logistical support and ensuring a smooth conduct of the meeting.
