JAMMU, Oct 7: Chief spokesman of JKPCC and former MLC Ravinder Sharma toured migrant camps at Kali Dev (Sunderbani), Dabbar-Khote, Nowshera, Nonial and other border areas and took stock of the people’s problems.
The Ex-MLC along with working president DCC Rajouri Som Nath, president Block Congress Committee Sunderbani Shamsher Singh and Sumit Bali visited migrant camps at Kali Dev, Dabbar- Khothe, Nowshera, Nonial and other areas and took stock of the problems being faced by the border migrants putting in these camps.
There was a strong demand of the migrants that they should be provided 5 marlas plots at safer places, because they have to leave their home and hearth time and again due to border firing. If Govt provide them plots, they can construct their shelters and at the time of disturbance at the border they will shift themselves there and live peacefully and there would be no need of setting up of migrant camps etc. They also demanded transport facility to go to their fields at border areas during day time for harvesting their crops and to look after their cattle etc.
Urging upon the Govt to provide 5 Marlas plots to the people living within the radius of 5 Kms of IB or LoC, Sharma said that the previous NC-Congress Govt had started the process of allotting 5 marla plots to the border area people and the present Govt has also promised to provide the land at safer zone for border area people. He demanded that all those families living on extreme border should be provided 5 marla plot to each family and some monetary help should also be provided by Govt. enabling them to construct their own shelters.
He also urged upon Govt to consider the demand of providing them transport facility so that they could harvest their crops during day time. He added that border area people are the unarmed Army and they work shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces during peace and war. He urged the administration to ensure all sorts of basic needs to the people, who are putting in migrants camps.
