JAMMU, Nov 2: Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology organized an interactive session today on the topic ‘Energy Management’.
Dr D.P Kothari, ex-Director IIT Delhi and Vice Chancellor VIT, Vellore interacted with the students. The guest speaker was welcomed by Dr. Arvind Dewangan.
Dr. Kothari laid emphasis on the techniques to manage energy that is being used by our country in the most effective and efficient manner. Different countries of world are taking various steps to save energy and non renewable resources. He emphasized main energy storage measures the through pumped storage, compressed air and hydrogen gas as a medium.
“The distributed power systems are more advantageous to use as it is of economic cost. Since India is an agrarian economy, so rural electrification is the most important concern for India to grow. There are main reasons for power shortage in India primarily due to delay in commissioning the installed capacity, poor capacity utilization,” Dr. Kothari said. The students of all the branches from B.E Semester 3,5 and 7 participated in the session.
