JAMMU, Mar 9: The Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (CPFWA), Jammu and Kashmir, has urged the authorities to address several long-pending issues concerning the welfare and rights of retired paramilitary personnel.
The Association has submitted representations to the Eighth Pay Commission, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Home Minister seeking pension parity, ex-servicemen status and other benefits for former paramilitary personnel.
In its appeal to the Chairperson of the Eighth Pay Commission, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, the Association demanded removal of pension disparities between Central Paramilitary Forces and the Army, stating that both serve the nation with equal dedication.
The Association also requested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to grant ex-servicemen status to retired paramilitary personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out that similar provisions already exist in states such as Kerala, Uttarakhand and Haryana.
It urged the Government to expedite the decision as the matter is pending with the Home Department.
In a separate representation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Association demanded withdrawal of the requirement of a security deposit for liquor licences imposed on retired paramilitary personnel, stating that such a condition is not applicable to Army ex-servicemen and should be removed to ensure equal treatment.
Meanwhile, the Association organised a function to honour Veer Naris (war widows) of ex-paramilitary personnel under the chairmanship of Chief Patron Harinder Mahajan.
During the programme, the widows were felicitated for the sacrifices made by their families in service of the nation.
On the occasion, DK Chouhan appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release the pending eighteen months of Dearness Allowance arrears for employees and to merge fifty percent DA of the Seventh Pay Commission with the basic pay until the implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission.
Among those present on the occasion were Kirtan Singh, Harbans Lal Sharma, Noor Mohammad, Inspector Yash Pal, Jagan Nath, Sub-Inspector Janak Raj, Bishno Devi and Harvinder Kour.
