JAMMU, Feb 13: A 65-year-old man was today found dead along Jammu-Pathankot Highway in Samba district.
“The deceased Ghulam Ali Bhat, a resident of Bhadarwah, was a former Block Development Officer. He was found dead in the morning near Dera Gandotra in Vijaypur area,” a police official said.
He said Bhat was currently living in Bhatindi area of Jammu and yesterday evening his family had submitted his missing complaint at police station Bahu Fort.
“Preliminary investigation suggested that the former Government official had died at Bhatindi after being hit by a speeding unknown vehicle, whose driver put his dead body in his car and threw it along the highway at Vijaypur to shield his crime,” he added.
A case has been registered in this connection at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigations started.
