JAMMU, Aug 2: The police arrested an employee of the Estates department and recovered banned drugs from his possession here today.
A police spokesman said that acting on a specific information, a police party from Panjtirthi Police Post, led by SI Mohinder Singh intercepted a car No.JK02U/0469 at naka point on Circular road today and recovered 25 bottles of Corex from the vehicle. The police arrested the car owner, Rajiv Gupta, son of Mohan Lal, resident of Rehari, Jammu.
The arrested drug- peddler is working as Junior Assistant in the Estates department and was presently posted in the office of Dy Director Estates, Manda, Jammu. The police then also raided the office and searched his almirah and found some empty bottles of corex there. The police had information that Rajiv was residing in a three-room accommodation at Block K-1(8), Poonch House, Panjtirthi and this place was being used to sell drugs. Some drug addicts (outsiders) used to visit his office as well his official residence to purchase drugs.
Pacca Danga Police registered a case FIR No. 128/2012 against the accused and seized car. Further investigation was in progress. The police was looking for his associates and also informed seniors in the department about the drugs menace within the complex.
