JAMMU, Mar 19: Highlighting their demands, the employees of Estates Department today held a protest demonstration in front of the Executive Engineer, Estates Division Jammu.
Led by Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Paul Sharma, the protesting employees raised slogans against the State Government and in support of their demands, like re-organization of the Estates Department and regularization of daily rated workers.
The protest was organized under the banner of J&K Coordination Committee of Estates Employees Jammu, the protesters were also demanding time bound promotions, release of the casual workers’ wages, final seniority list for holding DPC, provision of two and half day additional pay, issuance of appointment orders under SRO-43, etc.
Addressing the protesters, Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Paul Sharma appealed all the employees of Estates Department to remain united for taking the ongoing struggle to a logical conclusion. They also urged the employees to assemble in front of the office of Deputy Director Estates Jammu on March 24 and 25 for holding another two-day protest demonstration if no action is taken on their demands.
The Coordination Committee leaders also threatened to observe a complete strike by the Estates Department employees.
Those who addressed the protest dharna, included Tilak Raj Sharma, Puran Chand, Rash Paul, Rajinder Singh, Jeet Raj, Shamboo Singh, Subash Chander, Ravi Kumar, Sagar Massi, Mohinder Paul and Baljit Singh.
