JAMMU, Oct 3: Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Ex-MP and vice president Bharat Bangladesh Pakistan People’s Forum (BBPPF), India Chapter, while expressing his concern over the increasing hostilities between two nuclear powers India and Pakistan said that any further escalation of tension between the two nations is not only detrimental to peace in South Asia but to the whole world.
He appealed to world community to use their good office to persuade both the countries to settle their issues through dialogue and peaceful means.
He further stated that history has repeatedly proved that war is no solution and all dispute between the worst of enemies are resolved through dialogue. He said that both the countries should utilise their limited resources to fight their common problems like poverty, unemployment, corruption, terrorism etc.
He said that displacement of lakhs of people on both sides of LoC and International Border shows that on both sides’ worst affected are poor people.
After Uri attack it was widely expected that India will retaliate and Pakistan army was on high alert. Despite of volatile situation on LoC and International Border India conducted surgical strikes without any resistance from Pakistan side. All these events indicate that it is fixed match between both the Prime Ministers to divert attention of their public from their failure.
Sheikh Abdul Rehman appealed to world community to investigate Uri terrorist attack and surgical strikes by commission headed by Judge of International Court Of justice or eminent jurist of a third country in the interest of world peace. He also appealed to the media particularly electronic media of both the countries to be more responsible and not to work like war mongers.
