JAMMU, Dec 31: The Regional Office, Jammu of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has marked a significant milestone by releasing its first pension on the very day of retirement under the Prayaas scheme in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
This milestone has been achieved for the first time in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir under the guidance of Kumar Rohit, Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner (HQ), Delhi, Uttarakhand and J&K and Ladakh Zone whose focused supervision and timely support ensured successful implementation of the Prayaas scheme and same-day release of pension.
Since the implementation of the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, with effect from 01 November 2019 in J&K, EPFO Jammu has successfully issued pension benefits to more than 1,430 pensioners across the Jammu Division. Among these, one pension has been settled under the Prayaas scheme, making it the first such case in the UT, informed Sumeet Singh, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I, EPFO Jammu.
On Wednesday, the Regional Office released the pension amounting to Rs 5,177/- per month to Narendra Sharma of BSF Senior Secondary School, Jammu, under the Prayaas initiative. The scheme is designed to ensure that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) is issued on the day of superannuation itself, enabling seamless transition from service to pension.
Explaining significance of the initiative, Sumeet Singh, RPFC-I stated that earlier, retirees often faced delays due to procedural and documentation-related issues. The Prayaas initiative has been introduced to address these challenges and to ensure that pension commences immediately from the day following retirement, without any hardship to the member, he added.
