Envoys, other members of diplomatic corps celebrate International Day of Yoga; EAM, FS join

NEW DELHI, Jun 21: Envoys of various countries and other members of the diplomatic corps along with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday celebrated the International Day of Yoga at the Nehru Park in Delhi.

The Union minister also shared photos of the event in a post on X.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also took part in the session held at the sprawling park in Chanakyapuri, a leafy precinct, home to the country’s diplomatic enclave.

“Pleased to join the Diplomatic Corps at the Nehru Park in Delhi this morning to celebrate International Day Of Yoga. Like PM Narendra Modi said today, the session was a true reflection of yoga for everyone, beyond boundaries, backgrounds, age or ability. #IDY2025,” he wrote.

“Celebrating 11th International Day of Yoga with the global community in New Delhi. EAM S Jaishankar led the #IDY2025 celebration by MEA where Ambassadors, High Commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps and officers of the ministry joined to perform yoga,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the post.

“Based on the theme of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, the 11th edition of International Day of Yoga emphasizes harmony between human wellbeing and the nature around. #InternationalDayofYoga2025,” he said.

Australian High Commissioner Philip Green also attended the session at Nehru Park.

“Kicked off the morning with a refreshing and energising stretch at @MEAIndia’s #YogaDay event, led by none other than External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar. What a fantastic way to celebrate #InternationalYogaDay2025. #IYD2025 #Yoga @Vikram_Misri @ParamitaTrpathi @narendramodi,” he posted on X and also shared some photos.

In another post, he wrote, Yoga is “recognised globally for its discipline & important role in managing our physical, mental & emotional health”.

In that post, he reposted Indian High Commission in Australia’s post which shared details and photos of the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at the Old Parliament House building in Canberra.

“Wonderful to see members of @dfat & the Australian Defence Force practicing yoga in Canberra ‘? albeit on a chilly winter’s morning,” Green said.

In an early morning post, High Commissioner Green shared that a special yoga session was held to mark the day, as staff members of the Australian High Commission and others practised yoga poses in company of several puppies.

The video showed that the puppies moved around playfully as people engages in the session, while many participants lifted gently or held a puppy while doing the yoga routine.

“In the land that gifted the world #yoga, we decided to bring a little paw-sitivity to our practice! This #InternationalYogaDay, we rolled out our mats for a wholesome #puppy #yoga session with some furry friends. It reminded us: wellness works best with a wag and a smile,” Green posted.

This year’s theme of International Day of Yoga is ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

MEA spokesperson Jaiswal later in another post wrote, “Yoga for health, peace and harmony.The first batch of ‘Kailash Manasarovar Yatra’ Yatris via Nathu La route, performed Yoga to mark the #InternationalDayofYoga2025 in Bainang County in Tibet Autonomous Region, while on their way to perform the holy Yatra.” (PTI)
