SAMBA, Mar 15: An entrance examination for admission to Shri Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul at Ghagwal was conducted today under the aegis of Churamani Sanskrit Sansthan Vishwasthali, Basohli.
A total of 46 students from different parts of the district appeared in the test, which was held in a fair and transparent manner.
The examination was conducted in the presence of Chief Trustee of the Sansthan and Director ACB, Shakti Pathak, and SDM Ghagwal, KS Bali.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner Samba following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the District Administration Samba and Churamani Sanskrit Sansthan for promoting Sanskrit education and the Gurukul system in the district.
Officials said the entrance test is part of the admission process for the residential Gurukul for the academic session 2026-27.
The selection process includes a written examination, oral assessment and interaction with parents before the final merit list is prepared.
The examination was conducted smoothly with the cooperation of the management and volunteers of the Sansthan.
The candidates who appeared in the written test will now undergo the oral test and parent interaction in the next stage of the selection process.
The first batch of the Gurukul is expected to commence in the first week of April 2026.
Pertinently, the Gurukul will provide free education, hostel and boarding facilities to selected students.
Apart from Sanskrit scriptures, the institution will also offer modern subjects including Hindi, English, Mathematics and Science.
