JAMMU, Mar 24: The Department of ENT, SMGS Hospital, Government Medical College, Jammu today organised a live surgical workshop on the use of Laser and harmonic knife in ENT, which are latest equipments for performing bloodless surgeries especially for masses in the larynx and for head and neck cancers.
About 60 delegates attended the workshop, which included faculty members of the Department of ENT, Government Dental College, ENT Consultants from periphery, senior ENT practitioners including Dr JP Gupta (former HoD), Dr J Paul Kanotra, former HoD and others.
Medical Superintendents Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal and Dr Dara Singh were also present.
Dr Shashi Gupta, Principal and Dean GMC Jammu inaugurated the workshop. Dr Sunil Kotwal, Professor and Head ENT Department welcomed the delegates while Dr Pramod Kalsotra, Prof ENT Department presented vote of thanks.
Dr Shamit Chopra, Head of Operations, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Patel Superspecialty Hospital, Jalandhar, was the guest surgeon/speaker. He performed 5 live surgeries using Laser and harmonic knife and delivered lectures pertaining to it.
Dr M K Mahajan, Ex-Head of Department of Radiation Oncology, CMC Ludhiana, delivered lecture on role of radiations in management of head and neck cancers.
Other members of the organizing team were Dr Padam Singh, Dr KP Singh, Dr Anil Suri, Dr Sonika Kanotra, Dr Mohan Lal, Dr Kamal Kishore, Dr Om Prakash and Dr Gopika Kalsotra.
