JAMMU, Mar 6: Former Minister and senior PDP leader, Abdul Rehman Veeri today appealed the Government to ensure the supply of all essential items on the occasion of Maha Shivratri falling on March 10.
In a statement issued here today Veeri urged the Government to keep constant check on the prices of essential commodities and make available walnuts, flowers, cheese, fish and mutton during the festival in Kashmir Valley and Jammu. He said Maha Shivratri being one of the most sacred festivals of Pandits is being celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety and it is the duty of the Government to keep the essential commodities available on reasonable rates.
He demanded that fair price shops be opened for sale of walnuts, vegetables, milk, cheese, fish etc to avoid the black marketing. Besides, there should be proper supply of water and un interrupted power supply on the days of festival, he added.
