NAGROTA, Oct 24: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today expressed grave concern over non-coverage of a sizable segment of population, especially in rural and remote areas, under Aaadhar, saying that since various utility services are being linked to it many people will be adversely affected.
“Aaadhar enrollment received a huge setback with the concerned nodal agency in the Jammu and Kashmir Government in failing to liquidate the charges on account of preparations of these cards to the designated contractor”, he said, adding this speaks the importance such an ambitious scheme got from the PDP-BJP coalition dispensation. Wounding up of Aaadhar centres by the contractor left the people virtually in lurch, he maintained.
Rana was addressing workers’ meetings at various places in Dhan, Bhatyari and  Upper Kathar Panchayats in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
He said the National Conference had taken up this issue with the Governor as also in the Legislative Assembly but little was done to enable the left-over population get Unique Identification Numbers. He wondered how the Government had mulled the idea to link supply of rations through CAPD outlets with Aaadhar when ground work was yet to be completed. This speaks of the non-seriousness of the Government towards issues concerning general public.
MLA Nagrota demanded that till the coverage of entire population under the Aaadhar scheme, the rider for linking it to various utility services like bank accounts, direct transfer of subsidy, mobile connectivity etc should be waived.
During his interaction with people at various places, the MLA said his focus has been on getting monsoon damaged infrastructure particularly roads restored for smooth mobility of people, especially uninterrupted movement of crops during harvesting season.
Responding to various issues raised by the people, Rana said these will be taken up with the concerned agencies for early redressal.
