Grant of medical allowance to the employees and the retirees indicates Govt’s consciousness about good health, a requisite element, every one needs to enjoy. But the amount so paid, irrespective of age group, no matter one is of 20 years or above 80, seems somewhat illogical. Multiple diseases one gets inflicted within grey hair, need handsome allowance for medical care. Rs 300 per month being paid is like a drop in the ocean in the existing dearness. Obviously, the Govt requires to enhance the allowance genuinely to meet expenditures on medical treatment, particularly of those who need it most in cold and monotonous evenings of their life.
An old age factor especially when even coughing of an oldie causes objection in the family, deserves sympathetic consideration while deciding the quantum of the allowance.
