JAMMU, Apr 25: Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation here today organized a programme on virtual mode which was presided over by Scholar, Dr. Javaid Rahi.
Speaking on the occasion Gujjar and Bakerwal community members demanded enhancement of admission quota in various courses in all the universities and colleges of J&K for Gujjar-Bakerwal students proportionate to their population.
They demanded intervention of J&K LG to modify the admission notice issued by Kashmir University inviting applications for admission in Ph.D courses as there is no provision of reservation for any category in the notice.
They demanded inclusion of ST/SC quota in the list as per UGC rules.
Dr. Rahi in his address said that a guidance cell is required in J&K to guide ST youths for admissions/jobs under ST category across the country.
The speakers on occasion demanded enhancement of existing 6 per cent reservation quota to 10 per cent for Gujjar-Bakerwal students in admissions in government professional colleges of J&K.
They also demanded 10 per cent reservation in Kashmir University as against present 2 per cent for admission of Gujjar-Bakerwal students and 10 per cent reservation in admission in Jammu University as against 5 per cent.
They demanded that BGSB University Rajouri should slash fee for ST students and demanded reservation quota in Islamic University of Science and Technology as there is no provision for reservation.
Other who spoke on this occasion were Ishtiaq Misbah, Zulkarnain, Dil Nawaz Chodhary, Naveed Khatana, Amir Ali Chechi, M.S Arif, Kher-ud Din Chowdhary, Noushad Chowdhary and others.
