JAMMU, Feb 24: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), president Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to enhance the medical allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 per month as per the norm of UT administrations, throughout the country and announcement in this regard should be made in the upcoming budget session of JKUT starting from March 3, 2025.
Addressing a NMC workers during a meet Shastri said that UT of Ladakh has already hiked medical allowance of the pensioners to Rs 1000 per month from 1st of April 2020.
“Medical allowance in UT of J&K is just Rs 300 per month for the last two decades as the prices of medicines and other medical related expenditure has increased to a large extent so medical allowance should also be increased at par with UT of Ladakh,” he maintained hoping that J&K UT administration should take a decision in this regard soon so that pensioners may heave a sigh of relief from rising prices of medicines and other expenses.
Shasrti also demanded increase of 2% house rent in favour of JKUT employees as the DA crossed 50%.
Stressing on the need in releasing of pending DA/ DR of 18 months from the month of January 2020 to ending June 2021 Shastri also appealed to the Central Government to release the outstanding 3 DA installments arrear blocked while releasing the same to its employees and pensioners 3 years ago. He said that since the price index and inflation on rise day by day which has made salaried class and pensioners to face hardship to manage their livelihood.
Shastri pointed out that it is the fitness of things that financial assistance so accrued by way of rising Dearness Allowance (DA) is released without any further delay. He alao demanded merging of 50% DA with pension and pay.
