JAMMU, May 2: The English translation of Santosh Sangra’s book ‘Vichar Ayushadas Therapeutic Thoughts’ by Prof Vandana Sharma and Dr Shachi Sood was released in a function held here today.
Shantmanu (Financial Commissioner and Addl. Chief Secretary) was the chief guest during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu said, “The book with its profundity of thoughts will deepens the roots and broaden the horizons of every reader. Such book deserves to be in the library of every academic institute so that youth is benefitted from the richness of its contents.”
Welcoming the guests Harvinder Kaur (secretary, JKAACL) said that the book inspires us to live a balanced life and its translation will enhance the scope of its readership.
In the Translator’s address, Prof Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Jammu shared how Translating Vichaaraushad has always been a truly liberating experience for her in my journey as a translator and expressed hope that Santosh Sangra’s book in new avatar as Therapeutic Thoughts will interest the worthy readers particularly youth.
In his address, Prof Dilip Kumar, Regional Director IIMC said that the translator has translated the book “into sense and not in sentences”.
Santosh Sangra, author of the book, recited lines from her own work and elucidated the importance of female liberation and empowerment.
Prof Gitanjali Rana, Principal, GCW Gandhi Nagar said that the book is so timely as it resonates what NEP 2020 mandates, places strong emphasis on value-based education, aiming to nurture ethical, moral and humanistic values in students across all levels of education.
Dr Amrinder Amar (former addl. secretary, JKAACL) highlighted the major thrust of the book which is on women power and interestingly both the writer and translators are women.
Javaid Rahi, chief editor Sheeraza (Gojri) delivered the formal vote of thanks.
