UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, reiterated a firm, resolute stance against terrorism, drug trafficking and other anti-national activities. Addressing a Janta Darbar at Khoon, he emphasized that those perpetrating crimes and spreading terror on Indian soil, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir, will be brought to justice. He lauded the Government of India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and the proactive approach of the Union Home Minister, ensuring that disruptors of public peace are dealt firmly.
Pathania stressed that terrorism, drug abuse and unlawful activities not only disturb the peace but also hinder developmental progress. He called upon law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in curbing these menaces and ensuring security in the region.
During the interaction, the public raised multiple grievances, particularly concerning the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The MLA directed the concerned officials to expedite pending JJM projects and address bottlenecks such as inadequate pipe sizes, issues with High-Density Polyethylene (HDP) pipes, and the availability of sustainable water sources.
He emphasized that the dream of Har Ghar Jal must be realized at the grassroots level in Udhampur East.
He further took cognizance of the issue of exorbitant electricity bills and assured the public that corrective measures had been taken. He directed authorities, particularly Tehsildar Majalta, to ensure strict implementation of the Public Services Guarantee Act for providing hassle-free and transparent services to the people.
Responding to grievances related to the education sector, Pathania urged the Education Department to ensure a rationalization of staff in schools, addressing teacher shortages and grievances efficiently. He also emphasized the urgent need for infrastructural improvements in sports facilities, advocating for the development of new sports complexes and renovation of existing playgrounds to encourage youth participation in sports and fitness activities.
He said a significant milestone was achieved with the upgradation and operationalization of the 33/11 kV Receiving Station at Dehma, doubling its capacity from 3.3 MV to 6 MV. This enhancement ensures a stable electricity supply, particularly critical for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) machinery, as well as the increased usage of electrical appliances, motors, and irrigation systems by local agriculturists, horticulturists, and floriculturists.
