SRINAGAR, Nov 10: BJP here today condemned the growing cases of encroachment on temples and minority Hindu properties in Kashmir since the formation of NC led Government in J&K.
In a handout, former MLC, Girdhari Lal Raina said that illegal occupation and construction activities on the lands belonging to temples and displaced Kashmiri Hindus has alarmingly increased in last few months.
“The latest reports from village Nagam in Chadoora in Budgam District point to blatant violations of J&K Migrant Immovable Property (Preservation, Protection and Restraint on Distress Sales) Act, 1997,” he stated adding: “A reported illegal house construction has taken place on temple land in Nagam village by an individual closely associated with a senior leader of the ruling alliance.”
Raina slammed the authorities for their failure to enforce the law despite repeated representations. Calling the situation a direct assault on the rights and faith of a persecuted minority, he demanded immediate intervention from the LG’s administration.
The BJP leader reiterated that the government must demonstrate zero tolerance for such violations.
