Electrical employees hold protest demonstration

JAMMU, July 2: Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) and J&K Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union held a protest demonstration at the office complex of AEE, Sub Division-II, Janipur against wrong suspension of Lineman Dalip Singh accusing him of responsible for death of two need based workers- Kewal Krishan and Chuni Lal and injuries to Sanjeev Singh.
The union alleged that the concerned engineers lobby is responsible for the death of two innocent workers and expressed apprehension that there is something wrong between the lineman and the concerned engineers, which should be exposed through Judicial or Vigilance enquiry. The union said the Government instead of punishing all the guilty persons responsible for death of two innocent workers, has suspended only low category employee.
The speakers raised various questions before the Government as to who deputed these need based workers as linemen; whether they were given proper training for the said job; whether these ned based workers have been considered as Government employees and if yes why they were not paid till date from the past seven years; whether the Government has framed any regularization policy for such workers.
The union representatives demanding judicial or vigilance enquiry appealed the Government to provide compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh for the injured worker. The Union also demanded employment to kin of the deceased.
Those who addressed the demonstration included P C Sharma, Parshotam Sharma, Darshan Singh Verma, Pawan Kumar, Deep Sharma, Ajay Chopra, Shiv Dev Singh, Hira Singh, Kailash, Farooq Ahmed, Shammi Abrol, Jagmohan and others.
