RAJOURI, Aug 19: A 70-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed gun in Rajouri district , a police officer said here today.
The deceased, identified as Pritam Dass, a resident of Renthal village of Dharmsal, shot himself with his .12 bore gun on late last evening.
The family members rushed to his room after hearing the gunshot, and found him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Sub District Hospital Sunderbani, where doctors declared him dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Dass has committed suicide but the motive behind it was not known immediately, a police officer said.
BMP Sunderbani Dr Meena said that Pritam was brought dead in the hospital and his body was handed over to the family after autopsy and other necessary legal formalities in presence of police.
