REASI, June 23: On the concluding day of District Drama Festival organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Abhiney Kala Manch (AKM), Reasi today presented ‘Ek Tha Gadha Urf Aladad Khan’ written by Shard Joshi under the direction of Shadab Khan, Young theatre director of the district.
Mushtak Kak, renowned theatre artist, director and former director, Shriram Centre for Performing Arts, New Delhi, was the chief guest while Mahesh Sharma, District Treasury Officer, Reasi was the guest of honour. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, was also present in the presidium.
The play staged today is about a political satire on the day-to-day life of a common man and his life. Gadha symbolizes the real common man. The story starts when a Dhobi loses his Gadha who was important to him as his family member. A policeman named as Kotwal, is always occupied with the romance with a dancing girl comes to know about the incident of Aladad Khan and investigates from locals about this incident.
A local shopkeeper makes fool of Kotwal and tells him that a person by the name of Aladad died due to some reason and his owner is sad about it, but being election time some people are creating rumour so that local nawab may get public sympathy. Policeman informs the nawab about the death of a common man named Aladad. Nawab decided to announce a royal funeral of the common man named Aladad to win the public support.
But the problem occurs when it comes to fore that no human of this name has died. As the nawab has made an announcement so he gets killed a man of this name and arranged a royal procession for his body. In this way he succeeds to win public sympathy but the Dhobi still kept crying for his Gadha Aladad.
The artist who performed in the play were Sachdev Singh, Tarseem Kumar, Alka Thakur, Dharminder Rathore, Manjeet Singh, Arvind Goswami, Megha Ajnabi, Pritam Kumar, Amit, Ishan, Abhijeet , Manav, Mahil, Rohit, Sonali Sonam and Vishali.
The costumes were designed by Shadab Khan, Music was rendered Vishal Banathia, Sets designed by Rifat Yasmeen, Lights were executed by Sahil and Tarseem and Make up was done by Akram Khan.
