JAMMU, June 17: The Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), a large platform representing employees’ unions across Jammu and Kashmir, held protest in all twenty districts of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of EJCC Chairman Ajaj Ahmed Khan and general secretary/JKTJAC UT president Vinod Sharma here today.
The peaceful symbolic protest was held by employees of all the departments in their work places by wearing black badges without disrupting their routine duties.
While speaking on the occasion EJCC general secretary Vinod Sharma at Jammu said that this is just a symbolic protest against neglect of legitimate demands of permanent and temporary employees, along with recent unfavorable policies imposed by Jammu and Kashmir Bank. He said that today employees haven’t left their place of work but if their demands are not considered they will be forced to come on roads.
As part of the protest, clerical and field employees have worn black armbands while on duty, symbolizing their discontent and solidarity.
EJCC deliberated on several long-standing issues affecting lakhs of employees, including the delayed disbursement of GPF for which bills are in treasuries since December 2024; non-release of retirement benefits to the retired employees i.e gratuity, commutation; implementation of Old Pension Scheme for the employees appointed after January 2010; implementation of SRO-43 in its original shape; enhancement of 2% House Rent Allowance provision as per seventh pay commission; enhancement in Medical Allowance of the employees and children education allowance and the regularization of over 60,000 daily wagers, casual labourers across the Union Territory who are fighting for their rights and waiting for their regularisation since very long.
