SRINAGAR, Feb 5: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today called for a protest on February 13 in Jammu and slammed Government for transferring some of the key trade union leaders including Teachers Forum chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani.
In a meeting held here, the EJAC members threatened the authorities with intensified protests if their demands are not met. A spokesman of the EJAC said the trade union movement cannot be weakened under the garb of transfer policy.
“Some officers of education department are acting as stooges and puppets of the politicians who are hell bent to weaken the trade union movement and their nefarious design would be exposed in near future,” said the spokesman.
“Abdul Qayoom Wani is the voice of the employees and has the complete support of five lakh employees of the State. We are ready to offer any sacrifice for him,” he added.
