SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Police today said eight shops were damaged in different fire incidents in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts of Central Kashmir.
A police spokesman said fire broke out in a shop belonging to Mohammad Farid Sheikh at Sonwar here, resulting in complete damage to the shop. He said fire broke out in a shop at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar, resulting in damage to the shop.
In another incident, fire broke out at Bus Stand Batamaloo near Mirakshah Stand in Srinagar in which five shops were damaged, said the spokesman, adding that fire tenders with the assistance of police and locals brought these fire incidents under control.
The spokesman said that in Ganderbal district, fire broke out in a bakery shop belonging to Showkat Ahmad Sofi at Behama, resulting in partial damage to the shop. “Fire was brought under control by fire tenders and locals,” he added.
