Educational institutions celebrate 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Jan 27: Educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir marked the 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong sense of national pride. The celebrations featured unfurling of the National Tricolour, rendition of the National Anthem, NCC parades, cultural programmes and student performances, reflecting commitment to democratic values and nation-building.
At the Central University of Jammu (CUJ), Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. A grand cultural programme was later organized at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, where students of the NCC wing presented patriotic songs and performances.
The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) observed the occasion with zeal at its Tulmulla Campus, where Vice-Chancellor Prof A Ravinder Nath unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, administrative officials, scholars and students. Similar celebrations were held at the Green Campus, where Prof Farooq Ahmad Shah unfurled the Tricolour.
At Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, Vice-Chancellor Prof Jawaid Iqbal unfurled the National Flag. The celebrations featured a vibrant cultural programme while a special cultural evening organized in association with JKACL, showcased performances in Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri and Pahari. DC Rajouri Abhishek Sharma and SSP Gaurav Sikarwar were also present.
SKUAST-Jammu marked the occasion with the unfurling of the Tricolour by Vice-Chancellor Prof B N Tripathi, who paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and emphasized the Constitution as the guiding force of India’s democracy. Patriotic songs were presented by students, and the celebrations featured the first-ever ceremonial flag march by the NCC wing of the university.
At Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), the main function at Shalimar Campus featured the unfurling of the National Flag by Vice-Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who highlighted the university’s role in aligning academic excellence with national development goals.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) witnessed patriotic enthusiasm as the celebrations commenced with flag hoisting and the National Anthem. NCC cadets added solemnity through disciplined participation, followed by patriotic performances and a collective pledge to contribute towards national progress.
The Reasi Campus of the University of Jammu marked the day with Tricolour unfurling by Director Prof Sushil K Pandey. Students presented a colourful cultural programme comprising patriotic speeches, poems, songs and dances.
At Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Vice-Chancellor Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Deans, Heads of Departments, officers, employees and the university’s security contingent.
Jammu Regional Centre of IGNOU, Bantalab, commemorated the occasion with flag hoisting by Regional Director Dr Sandeep Gupta. Patriotic songs and inspiring speeches highlighted national unity, with Deputy Director Dr Asha Upadhyay and Assistant Regional Directors Dr Vikram Singh and Dr Zeba among those present.
At Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, Director Prof B S Sahay hoisted the National Flag at the Jagti campus. The programme included a Kathak performance, a skit on drug abuse and patriotic songs.
Similarly, IIT Jammu celebrated the 77th Republic Day at its Jagti campus with flag hoisting by Director Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, followed by the National Pledge, recognition of students and staff, and cultural performances.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated the occasion patriotic spirit on Monday. In-Charge Director Prof (HAG) Roohi Naaz presided over the function and unfurled the Tricolour at Campus’s playground.
Dogra Group of Colleges organized Republic Day celebrations under the chairmanship of R S Katal, Member of the Governing Body, Dogra Law College. Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, DET, also addressed the gathering, while students presented energetic dance performances.
At Sant Mela Singh College of Education, Digiana, Principal Dr Kiran Luthra unfurled the National Flag. The programme featured patriotic songs by students and speeches by faculty members and learners.
Government Degree College Mahanpur observed the day with flag hoisting by Principal Dr Sangeeta Sudan, followed by the National Anthem, patriotic speeches and singing performances by students.
At GGM Science College, Jammu, Principal Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta ceremonially hoisted the Tricolour. The celebrations concluded with patriotic slogans and expressions of national unity.
An impressive march-past marked the celebrations at Government PG Degree College Boys, Udhampur, where District Development Council Chairperson Lal Chand unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Sarah Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure and other senior officials were present.
At Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmancy, a colourful programme and flag hoisting was organized. The Flag hoisting was done by Director Abhimanyu Katoch, where he told the students about the rich and diversified culture of our country. The programme was concluded with a wonderful speech presented by Ayush Katoch (Director).
Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura (near Chandigarh) celebrated the occasion with patriotic songs, cultural performances and speeches by students highlighting democracy, unity and sacrifices of freedom fighters.
At Kawa College of Education, Jammu, the celebrations featured flag hoisting ceremony by Chairman MS Katoch, singing of the National Anthem and then addressed by the Chairman. The ceremony was attended by Principal, Dr Tajinder Kour, Director of RGCN, Anjana Bavouria along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing, Jammu, marked the occasion with pride and patriotic fervour at its campus. The programme featured unfurling of the National Flag by Chairman M S Katoch in presence of Director Anjana Bavouria and faculty members. Patriotic songs, group dance, speeches, and a skit also featured the celebrations.
At Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhinagar, Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour unfurled the Tricolour. The celebrations concluded with a collective pledge by students to uphold democratic values.
Government Degree College Ramkote marked the day with flag hoisting by Principal Prof (Dr) Rakesh Kumar Koul, followed by patriotic songs, speeches and cultural programmes presented by students.
At Government Degree College Vijaypur, Principal Dr Ashu Vashisht unfurled the National Flag as students, staff and alumni participated in a vibrant cultural programme.
The celebrations at Government Degree College Akhnoor began with a ceremonial NCC parade, followed by an inspiring address by Principal Prof (Dr) Romilla Malla Bhat.
At Sai Shyam Educational Society, Director Dr Usha Tickoo unfurled the National Flag in the presence of staff and students, who presented patriotic songs and cultural activities.
Bhaskar Degree College, in association with Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur, observed the day with flag hoisting by Chairperson Madhu Khajuria, in the presence of Managing Director Ashok Khajuria and other senior officials.
At Government Degree College Bishnah, Principal Dr Shallu Samyal unfurled the Tricolour as faculty, staff, students and NCC cadets participated enthusiastically.
The celebrations at Government Degree College Marheen featured flag hoisting by Principal Prof (Dr) Anupama Gupta, followed by patriotic songs and student presentations.
Gandhi Memorial College, Raipur-Bantalab marked the celebrations with patriotic fervor. The National Flag was hoisted by Principal Satish Talashi along with president HESK Prof B L Zutshi. General secretary HESK Prof Virender Rawal and executive body members M L Gulabi and Prof G L Koul were also present. Students presented patriotic skits, dances and poems on the occasion.
At Government Degree College Ramnagar, Principal Prof (Dr) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal unfurled the National Flag, while students participated in a symposium and cultural programme.
The programme at Government Degree College Khour concluded with a plantation drive after the National Flag was unfurled by Principal Prof (Dr) T K Sharma.
Government Degree College Nagrota celebrated the Day with flag hoisting by Principal Prof Anjali Mahajan and soulful patriotic songs by students.
At Government Degree College RS Pura, NCC contingents of boys and girls performed a parade after the Tricolour was unfurled by Principal Prof (Dr) Preetpal Kour, followed by a cultural extravaganza.
The celebrations at Government Degree College Marh witnessed active participation of NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, faculty and students, with flag hoisting by Incharge Principal Prof Anita Kumari.
Government Deputy SP Aman Thakur Memorial Degree College, Kastigarh, marked the occasion under the guidance of Principal Prof Koshal Kumar Mangotra, who unfurled the National Flag.
At Government Degree College Majalta, Principal Dr Shalini Sharma hoisted the Tricolour at the Multipurpose Hall, followed by the National Anthem and a vibrant cultural bonanza.
Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The National Flag was unfurled by Principal Dr Nalini Pathania. A scintillating cultural programme also featured the celebration.
The celebrations at Government Degree College Katra concluded with a certificate and memento distribution ceremony after Principal Dr Rajni Bhagat unfurled the National Flag and felicitated achievers.
At the office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Jammu, the Republic Day was observed with dignity as CEO Ajeet Sharma unfurled the National Tricolour in the presence of officers and staff. DEPO Jammu B D Sharma, faculty members and cultural coordinators were also present on the occasion.
Government Central Basic Higher Secondary School, Jammu, marked the day with enthusiasm as Principal Sapna Suri hoisted the National Flag in the presence of MLA Yudhvir Sethi, staff members and students. The celebrations featured a colourful cultural programme highlighting India’s rich heritage and unity in diversity.
At Government High School Jaganoo, Udhampur, MLA Udhampur East Ranbir Singh Pathania hoisted the National Flag and took the salute. The MLA also unfurled the Tricolour at GHSS Mansar, where a vibrant patriotic atmosphere prevailed.
BN Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, witnessed enthusiastic participation of staff and students as Principal Aasiya Shabir Banday hoisted the National Flag. A cultural programme showcasing India’s unity and diversity added colour to the celebrations.
Patriotic fervour marked the celebrations at Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Nagar, where Principal Rita Popli greeted the gathering and highlighted the significance of Republic Day.
At Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, the programme began with a welcome address by students Mehtab and Saziya, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by Managing Director Gambhir Dev Singh Charak.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, celebrated the day with pride under the supervision of Headmaster Harish Sharma and Primary Wing Incharge Suman Gupta, with active participation of students from the primary wing.
The staff and students of Alexander Memorial School, Jammu, observed the occasion with enthusiasm as the National Flag was unfurled by chief guest Esther William, Administrator of the school, followed by the National Anthem.
At Government PMSHRI HSS Chiralla, Tehsildar Chiralla Gulshan Kumar Sharma unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Acting Principal Vikram Kant Sharma, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
The celebrations in Sub Division Drass were held at Government Higher Secondary School Drass, where SDM Drass Vishal Atri unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive march-past by Ladakh Police and students.
Government High School Moud, Zone Jib (Udhampur), marked the day under the chairmanship of Headmaster Bhushan Lal, who hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of staff, Youth Club president and Panchayat members. Students presented vibrant cultural items.
At New Modern Academy, Chak Rakwalan, the National Flag was unfurled by Shamim Akhter, followed by a patriotic dance-cum-skit presented by students in the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Sanmati Vimal Jain Academy celebrated the occasion with flag hoisting by Sanjay Sharma, President of the School Committee, and Principal Manvi Raina. Students presented patriotic dances and skits, including a special performance by the primary wing.
The celebrations at Standard Institute of Education, Rown Dhar Road, Udhampur, featured the unfurling of the National Flag by Principal Chan Singh, followed by a patriotic group song and cultural performances.
At GMS Barnai, the Tricolour was unfurled by Deputy Chief Education Officer Jammu, Pardeep Singh Rakwal, in the presence of staff, students and guests. Seva Dass Digra attended as guest of honour.
Humanity Public School, Bari Brahmana (Bassi Kalan), observed the day with patriotic zeal as Principal Gaurav Charak hoisted the National Flag in the presence of wing incharges and staff.
At Universal Higher Secondary School, Draba, the programme witnessed participation of the Indian Army, civil society members and locals. The National Flag was unfurled by chief guest Lt Col Jagmeet Grewal, Second-in-Command.
Shaurya International School celebrated the occasion with a special programme, where Chairman School Management Committee Harinder Mahajan jointly unfurled the National Flag with Vice-Chairman Sahil Mahajan and Principal Dr Swati Kapoor.
At Government Middle School Dudial, Zone Udhampur, Headmaster Romesh Chander hoisted the National Flag and took the salute. Students presented an impressive march-past, Bhartiyam and cultural items.
Divyangjan of SKK Hearing Handicapped School marked the day with traditional fervour as Principal Roshan Bhan unfurled the Tricolour and the National Anthem was rendered in sign language. Philanthropist N K Jain and his family distributed refreshments.
Government HSS Barmeen commemorated the occasion with flag hoisting by Principal Neenu Ganju, followed by cultural programmes and an address on the importance of the day.
At Government High School Kotli Tanda, Zone Akhnoor, Headmaster Nasib Singh hoisted the National Flag and distributed prizes during a colourful function.
Government Girls High School, Thial (Udhampur), observed the day as Headmaster Ravinder Mawa unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of staff members.
The celebrations at Government Girls Model HSS Kandoli Nagrota were marked by flag hoisting by chief guest Tehsildar Nagrota Sumit Kohli, in the presence of Vice Principal Ajay Sehgal.

At Brigadier Khuda Baksh Memorial Public Higher Secondary School and Rambagh Kullian Primary School, run by the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Principal Nehreer Khan and Senior Trustees Shouket Javed & Ch Sajad Majeed Chechi respectively unfurled the National Flag. Students presented patriotic songs and cultural performances.
