ECPFWA raises demands for welfare of retired paramilitary personnel

JAMMU, Mar 17: Ex Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (ECPFWA), J&K raised long-pending demands concerning welfare of retired paramilitary personnel and highlighted various disparities and issues affecting them.
During a press conference here today, Association general secretary, D.K Chauhan and chairman, Mahesh Sharma along with members of Ex Servicemen Fight for Rights Group highlighted disparity in family pensions.
“As per 7th Pay Commission, the family pension for retired widows has been increased to Rs. 58,000 per month, whereas the family pension for paramilitary Jawan has been fixed at just Rs 9,000 per month,” the Association leaders said condemning the discrepancy and demanded parity in pensions.
They also pointed out discrimination in One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.
On 8th Pay Commission the Association members emphasized that it should address the shortcomings of 6th and 7th Pay Commissions, which had major disparities affecting retired paramilitary personnel.
The rising cost of living and medical expenses was another significant concern raised.
The Association also demanded establishment of a Common Central Police Canteen for all paramilitary forces.
The Association urged the Union Government to address these issues and introduce necessary reforms without delay.
Harbans Lal Sharma, vice president, Noor Mohammad, general secretary, District Samba, Inspector Yash Pal (ITBP), Jagan Nath (SSB), NK/Sub Ajeet Singh and Karan Jeet Singh were also present on the occasion.
