EC starts awareness drive for enrollment of voters

JAMMU, Sept 13: The Election Commission has started a campaign in all 22 districts of the State to aware the youngsters to enroll them as voters in the summary revision starting on October 1.
As a part of the awareness campaign, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (DyCEO), Election Commissioner, J&K, Charandeep Singh toured Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Doda and Kishtwar districts and held meetings with district officers and local people to aware them on the summary revision of electoral rolls.
Mr Singh also asked the district officers to go to remote and far off areas and enroll the youngsters and others as the electorates.
The Deputy CEO met the people in various meetings and called upon them to enroll themselves as voters during month long summary revision of electoral rolls, beginning October 1. The electoral rolls will be published on January 5.
Mr Singh explained the benefits of being voters to the people. He said the voters now would get photo identity cards.
He said it was also responsibility of the district officers to educate people about getting the voting right.
Mr Singh would be touring all 22 districts before the summary revision starts on October 1.
